About Us

I am so glad that you are here! I am an English and Mandarin speaking Registered Clinical Counsellor. I specialize in providing Emotionally Focused Individual therapy for individuals and Emotionally Focused Therapy for relationship partners for clients from BIPOC and LGBTQ2s+ population. I have a good understanding of EFT and know how to adapt EFT model to fit the specific needs of BIPOC, specifically Asian or collective culture and LGBTQ2S+ population. I really enjoy helping people get connected to themselves and their loved one.

If you are going through a hard time now, you deserve to be heard and understood in a safe space. In our time together, we will work together to explore your inner strength and resolve your emotional difficulties and relationship issues. So that you can feel more alive and connected to yourself and your relationships.

This is a BIPOC, LGBTQ2S+, sex-positive safe space.

My name is Jenny Hsuan Fang Hsu. I am an English and Mandarin-speaking Registered Clinical Counselor in Vancouver, BC, on the traditional ancestral and unceded territory of the Coast Salish peoples, including the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō, and səlil̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) nations. I am a cisgender, queer-identified, low-middle class, Asian immigrant woman. I was born in Taiwan and immigrated to Canada when I was 13 years old. I have both worked and lived in Asia and North America. I identify myself as a Taiwanese Canadian who has binary culture. In Oct of 2014, I had a motorcycle accident that changed the course of my life. I began my lifelong healing journe.

My lived experience has motivated me to help others who have been through similar struggles in life and face systematic oppression and marginalization from the traditional medical model. I believe healing is relational, trauma occurs when we feel helpless and overwhelmed, but it can also be healed within a secure relationship. Everyone has the capability to grow and manage to have a functional life despite symptom relapses and physical limitations. Many of my counselling skills and knowledge from years of training I have acquired, I have used for my own healing. My identities, experiences, values and context have shaped me to have become the counsellor I am today, a wounded healer.

As a BIPOC and a member of LGBTQ2S+, I navigate the dominant culture and how I show up in the world every day. I embrace inclusion and diversity and have social justice in mind. Advocacy has become part of my mission. Because I understand how valuable it is to have our voice heard and feeling seen, healing is relational; love heals racial and cultural trauma. Advocacy and community support are my life-long mission. Stigmatization and discriminates hate, while love heals.

In our time together, I would make sure you feel seen and heard in a safe space. I would be interested to get to know you, your story and the people who are important to you. You are the expert of your own life, my duty here is to provide a safe space for you to explore your difficult emotions that kept you stuck in a habitual pattern that no longer serves your purpose. I seek to meet where you are and to work with you in a culturally attuned, racially conscious, and LGBTQ2S+ affirmative atmosphere.

Warmly,

Jenny Hsu, R.C.C., M.C.
