Comparing to medication treatment, alternatives to the psychotherapy, psychotherapy has less adverse and unpleasant side effects. There are a lot of benefits in psychotherapy such as better relationships, increasing self-esteem, learning life skills, a higher degree of self awareness, better self-care and mental wellness management etc.…. Nevertheless, each experience in counselling is different. You are the primary changing agent in your counselling sessions. There is no guarantee that the outcome of your psychotherapy is positive. Because Psychotherapy involves working on difficult emotions and barriers in your life, you may feel vulnerable as a client in our counselling session. I will make sure you feel safe and comfortable during the process. However, it is not uncommon that you experience uncomfortable feelings such as sadness, frustration, guilt, loneliness during and after our session. You may also feel changes in self-awareness and different ways of relating to others. I would recommend you to identify at least one reliable social support within your community before working on trauma-related issues. Please always remember to practice your self-care after leaving our session.
