Boat Safety Training
In these courses, you’ll learn about different types of boats, their limitations, and their capabilities. You’ll also learn how to properly set up the boat (rigging), navigation, emergency procedures, and rescue and recoveries.
We can also do client specific contract courses based on equipment and task.
Courses
Courses vary based on boat type and intended use due to the variation in techniques for different environments and situations.
We offer training in power boats (jet/prop), paddle and oar rafts, and personal watercraft (seadoos).
We can also customize any boat course and tailor to your exact needs. Whether this be based on the vessel you use, or the operation you need to perform.
All of our boat courses meet or exceed industry standards.
Certifications upon completion:
- Every course is certified through the IRIA
- Online awareness course (Valid for 1 Year)
- Boat Safety Rescue Technician 1 - 4 (valid for 3 years)
Required Equipment:
- Drysuit/Wetsuit
- PFD
- Approved helmet
- Water type boot
- Boat
- Food/water for the day(s)
- Thermal wear for under the dry-suit

Basic Theory and Knowledge of Boat Safety.
The Boat Safety Awareness Course is designed to give you the foundation awareness theory in boats.
The different types, how they work and what safety equipment you should carry. This is the foundation course for all the boat courses Rescue Canada offers.
- Boat Safety Rescue Level 1 – Safety $395.00
Basic Safety and Rigging
Boat Safety Rescue Technician Level 1 course is designed for those wanting to get to know the basics.
This could be understanding how to rig your boat for a trip to basic navigation in rivers and streams.
We tailor the course to you so you get exactly what you need to get into the water safely and enjoy the day in the boat.
- Boat Safety Rescue Level 2 – Operations $695.00
Level 1 plus Operations, Basic Rescue and Emergency Procedure
Boat Safety Rescue Technician Level 2 course is designed for those that are required to operate a boat/vessel in a low to medium risk environment.
This can be on flat water or on the Swiftwater environment.
The course is based upon knowledge of the vessel you are required to operate, self rescue, basic steering and navigation as well as emergency procedure and task specific skills.
- Boat Safety Rescue Level 3 – Technician $995.00
Level 2 plus Subject Rescue and Technical Water Operations
Boat Safety Rescue Technician Level 3 course is designed for those that are required to operate a boat/vessel in a medium to high risk environment.
This can be on flat water or on the Swiftwater environment.
The course is based upon knowledge of the vessel you are required to operate, self rescue, third party rescue, basic steering to advanced as well as emergency procedure and task specific skills.
- Boat Safety Rescue Level 4 – Advanced $1295.00
Level 3 plus High-Risk Manoeuvres and Night Operations
Boat Safety Rescue Technician Level 4 course is designed for those that are required to operate a boat/vessel in a high risk environment.
This can be on surf/tidal water or on the Swiftwater environment.
The course is based upon knowledge of the vessel you are required to operate, self-rescue, third party rescue, basic steering to advanced as well as emergency procedure and task specific skills such as rope techniques and night operations.
