Occupational Rope Safety and Access

Background

Occupational rope safety and access programs are designed to provide the participant with the skills to work safely at height. This program is broken down into 3 course levels. The introduction online awareness course will be included with level 1 and 2 courses.

Awareness – eLearning

The rope safety and access Awareness course is an online course. The objective of the online awareness course is to identify the hazards, control measures and regulations pertaining to working at height. The online awareness course is expected to take 1-2 hours to complete and is included as part of the level 1 and level 2 courses.

Level 1 – Fall Protection Awareness

The level 1, Fall Protection course is designed to apply the practical application of the hazards, control measures and regulations to the theory found in the awareness course. This course will focus on fall restraint and fall arrest while working at height. Depending on the number of participants, this course is expected to take 4-8 hours to complete.

Level 2 – Access

The level 2, Access course is designed to include all of the instructional material found in the level 1 fall protection course plus working while suspended on rope. Participants will be able to recognize and use equipment and techniques used for lowering and raising a human load in an industrial and/or wilderness setting. Participants will also be able to safely perform an edge transition and work while suspended in a vertical environment.
This course can be customized to meet the requirements of the required tasks. This course is expected to take 1-2 days to complete, dependant on the number of participants, working environment, complexity of the working evolutions and instructional modules selected.
