Which course should I take?

You know you need outdoor safety training for work or play, but how do you choose?

We offer custom-tailored courses for your specific task or environment. And we’ll help you pick the right one.

Most employers indicate the need for safety or rescue training. With so many courses to choose from for different outdoor environments, we want to ensure you are getting the proper training.

A few things we need to know:

  • Resource Management (DFO, Consulting, Hydro, Biologist, Hydrologist)
  • Adventure Tourism (Guiding)
  • Public (Fish, Kayak, Outdoor Travel, Play)

Emergency Services

I AM IN EMERGENCY SERVICES AND BRAND NEW TO MY ENVIRONMENT.

We suggest the Level 2 course for the beginning of your training. Level 2 courses give you basic knowledge of your environment, and personal safety needs, and introduce team safety and rescue.

Upon completing this course you can then gain some practice and experience and then upgrade to Level 3 which deals with third-party rescue in higher-risk environments.

 Environments include: Swiftwater, Ice, Winter, Rope, Boat, and Helicopter

Response Capabilities: Shore-based, low-risk, static / flat-ice, low slope, basic operations

I AM IN EMERGENCY SERVICES AND HAVE SOME EXPERIENCE IN MY ENVIRONMENT.

Level 3 is the place to start for any emergency services certification. This suggests you’ve spent time in your environment, but are ready to learn how to rescue others in medium to high-risk environments safely.

 Environments include: Swiftwater, Ice, Winter, Rope, Boat, and Helicopter

Response Capabilities: In water response/rescue, medium risk, dynamic, steep slope, basic technician

 

Resource Management

I AM IN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT AND BRAND NEW TO MY ENVIRONMENT.

The industry standard is the Safety Rescue Technician Level 2 courses. If you are new to the environment or have been working for years in this environment, this is the course you need. Level 2 courses give you an understanding of risk assessments, personal safety and looking after your co-worker.

We also will teach you industry and work-specific safety techniques to help you work safer and better.

Environments include: Swiftwater, Ice, Winter, Rope, Boat, and Helicopter

Response Capabilities: Shore-based, low-risk, static / flat-ice, low slope, basic operations

I AM IN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT AND HAVE SOME EXPERIENCE IN MY ENVIRONMENT.

If you are responding in very remote areas and using other tools in the environment such as; ropes for access, helicopters, or boats, then we recommend the Level 3 courses.
